The Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) is a free program provided by SIH Senior Advantage and sponsored by the Illinois Department of Insurance. Driven by volunteers, SHIP provides counseling services to seniors to help them understand and manage issues related to Medicare, private health insurance, and other health coverage plans.

Senior adults who need insurance counseling can call the SIH Senior Advantage office, toll-free, at 1-877-480-4040 to make an appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday during regular office hours at the SIH hospitals that include Herrin Hospital, Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Miners Memorial Health Center and the SIH Corporate office in Carbondale.
